Economic Benefits
Jobs
T-Mobile Park generates a huge amount of economic activity. This starts with jobs. More than 2,000 people work at the ballpark—Mariner employees and those who are with the various companies that provide food and services on game days. Many of the day-of-game employees are students and retirees.
Taxes
T-Mobile Park creates revenue for the city, county, and state through taxes on tickets, concessions, and other purchases within the ballpark. Outside the walls of the ballpark, many fans stop for a meal or a beverage before or after the game, generating more jobs and tax revenue.
Tourism
Many hundreds of thousands of people visit Seattle each year to attend a Mariners game or other event at T-Mobile Park. Tourists not only spend money at the ballpark, but they stay in local hotels, rent cars, get their meals in restaurants, shop, visit museums, and patronize other businesses in town. Interestingly enough, surveys have found that more than half of the fans for the games come from outside of King County. The Mariners are even popular in Japan, given the success of Mariner players from that country over the years. Many tourists from Japan visit T-Mobile Park.
Economic Activity
